2019 Workshop in Japan

As part of the partnership signed between Autograf and the UEDA Gakuen Educational Japanese University, Autograf students in Video Game Art and Graphic & Digital Design travelled to Osaka from May 19 to 24, 2019.

A multicultural workshop was organised during the trip to meet with Japanese students.

Look back on the 2019 Workshop in Japan

The workshop was led by Damien De La Marlier, a Digital Design teacher. This combination of French and Japanese know-hows aimed at creating a video animation that displayed traditional prints and personal works (visuals, video footage, 2D/3D images, graphic features, etc).

To make the video, students first explored the city of Osaka, visiting the Dotonbori and Shinsekai neighbourghoods, the Osaka Castle and its gardens, the Shitennoji temple, and of course the main shopping street in Shinsaibashi.

A full agenda, with a traditional lunch, visiting the city of Osaka, and sharing moments of design with the Japanese UEDA Gakuen students!

Both French and Japanese students presented their projects to their teachers after four and half days of intensive work. On the evening after the presentation, students were invited to a cocktail to celebrate the end of the workshop organised by the Japanese school. During their last meal shared with their Japanese hosts, they got to taste the traditional Osaka dish: Okonomiyaki.

Congratulations to all for a successful workshop!

Thank you to the UEDA Gakuen University for their warm welcome and we look forward to seeing you in November, at Autograf, to attend a new French-Japanese workshop, share experiences and learn from one another.
